Pay For Petrol With A Cash Back Credit Card
Normally credit cards are used to fund spending, however if you have the cash in the bank and are good at managing your finances then a cash back credit card can help you get money back on your spending on fuel (and everything else!).
For every purchase you make with your cash back credit card the issuer pays you back a small percentage as a reward. This is either in the form of cashback which is either put onto your card or sent in the form of a cheque, or reward points which can be used in shops - make sure you check out before signing up for any card that you will get the cashback and not points.
The percentage you get back varies so shop around the get the best rewards, at the time of writing the American Express Platinum MoneyBack Card was giving 5% cashback for the first 3 months and 1.5% thereafter. Most cards are either 0.5% or 1% cash back reward.
Problems
You need to make sure you pay off your balance in full at the end of each month, otherwise you will have to pay interest at a percentage rate signifcantly higher than the reward percentage. You also need to have the self control to only to spend what you have in the bank so you can pay the full balance off at the end of the month.
